NFC West Draft Grades

To preface I do believe that this division overall had the best drafts, these 4 teams all improved tremendously through the draft.

1. Arizona Cardinals- A+

Round 1 • Pick 1 (1) • QB Kyler Murray

Round 2 • Pick 1 (33) • CB Byron Murphy

Round 2 • Pick 30 (62) • WR Andy Isabella

Round 3 • Pick 1 (65) • DE Zach Allen

Round 4 • Pick 1 (103) • WR Hakeem Butler

Round 5 • Pick 1 (139) • S Deionte Thompson

Round 6 • Pick 1 (174) • WR Keesean Johnson

Round 6 • Pick 6 (179) • C/G Lamont Gaillard

Round 7 • Pick 34 (248) • T Joshua Miles

Round 7 • Pick 35 (249) • DE Michael Dogbe

Round 7 • Pick 40 (254) • TE Caleb Wilson

The Cardinals had the best of any team in the nfl, while I like many wasn’t fond of the Kyler Murray pick to start, once the rest of the draft played out I was quick to change my mind, while the issue with Josh Rosen last year was an abysmal O-line and no weapons the cardinals went out and got a better in all areas they took 3 receivers to aid Murray, while also getting a number 2 corner to play by Patrick Peterson. In doing this the cardinals didn’t address the offensive line until the sixth round which many people have a big problem however with Murray being mobile the addition of guys like JR sweezy and Marcus Gilbert plus DJ Humphries and Justin Pugh coming back from injuries there is a chance that this offensive is stronger than a wet paper bag. Overall the cardinals draft was great in value and filled needs, the wide receiving core and secondary went from some of the thinnest and weakest in the NFL to now one of the youngest and most exciting around.

2. Los Angeles Rams- A-

Round 2 • Pick 29 (61) • S Taylor Rapp

Round 3 • Pick 6 (70) • RB Darrell Henderson

Round 3 • Pick 16 (79) • DB David Long Jr.

Round 3 • Pick 34 (97) • T Bobby Evans

Round 4 • Pick 32 (134) • DT Greg Gaines

Round 5 • Pick 31 (169) • T David Edwards

Round 7 • Pick 29 (243) • S Nick Scott

Round 7 • Pick 37 (251) • LB Dakota Allen

The rams had a great draft in many people's opinions Taylor Rapp should not have fallen past the cowboys in round 2 which is 100% right but Jerry Jones let a great player fall to the rams, despite the rams cap space situation and the lost free agents this past year the rams do have a great team because of their drafting and this year was no exception. The Rapp pick was most likely to fill a void left by Lamarcus Joyner leaving, Darrell henderson is another great option for the rams in the back field and david long provides this team with some youth at the corner spot. Other than that they greatly improved their trenches in pick like Bobby Evan, the versatille and experience David Edwards, and a replacement to play NT in Greg Gains. The last two pick were very different in Nick Scott to give some more secondary depth but Dakota Allen late in the 7th could be a very good player. The reason for him falling this late was his bad testing apparently he ran low 4.8’s for his 40 during his pro days when he looked like a 4.5 or 4.6 type of guy on tape. Speaking of his tape he played very well at Texas Tech and the bright side for him is that there is a very big possibility that his NFL scheme will be easier on him the college which could make this pick amazing.

3. Seattle Seahawks-B+

Round 1 • Pick 29 (29) • DE L.J. Collier

Round 2 • Pick 15 (47) • SS Marquise Blair

Round 2 • Pick 32 (64) • WR DK Metcalf

Round 3 • Pick 25 (88) • LB Cody Barton

Round 4 • Pick 18 (120) • WR Gary Jennings

Round 4 • Pick 22 (124) • G Phil Haynes

Round 4 • Pick 30 (132) • FS Ugo Amadi

Round 5 • Pick 4 (142) • LB Ben Burr-Kirven

Round 6 • Pick 32 (204) • RB Travis Homer

Round 6 • Pick 37 (209) • DT Demarcus Christmas

Round 7 • Pick 22 (236) • WR John Ursua

The Seahawks draft is very wishy washy for me mainly because of their first two picks. LJ Collier easily could have been a second round pick but I understand the desperate need for edge after trading away Frank Clark. I’m not the biggest fan of Marquise blair but again I understand the need however I believe Taylor Rapp made sense here. Weirdly enough the rest of the draft I love, DK Metcalf should not have been there at 64, Barton plugs in to play LB right away. Picks like Gary Jennings, Ugochukwu Amadi and Ben Burr-Kirven will play day 1 and any time you get 6 starters in a draft it is a success.

4. San Francisco 49ers-B-

Round 1 • Pick 2 (2) • DL Nick Bosa

Round 2 • Pick 4 (36) • WR Deebo Samuel

Round 3 • Pick 3 (67) • WR Jalen Hurd

Round 4 • Pick 8 (110) • P Mitch Wishnowsky

Round 5 • Pick 10 (148) • LB Dre Greenlaw

Round 6 • Pick 3 (176) • TE Kaden Smith

Round 6 • Pick 10 (183) • OT Justin Skule

Round 6 • Pick 26 (198) • CB Tim Harris

Please no one say anything about they got the best player how did they draft the worst in the division let me explain. Yes the Nick Bosa pick was amazing however Deebo Samuel wasn’t near the best reiver left on my board when they took him, Jalen Hurd was a reach. They took a punter in the fourth round none of these pick makes sense to make it worse, I didn’t like Greenlaw's tape, Justin Skule isn’t going to be anything for this O-line and they waited to address the secondary until their last pick. Truly the only pick I like from this draft were of course the Bosa pick and Kaden Smith but they already have Kittle so his chances of playing day one are little to none. I just don't understand how this team could go out and draft two receivers when you probably could have thrown the third you spent on Hurd and they fourth you drafted a punter with to get Antonio Brown.
